As a frontline exporter at Haomei Aluminum, my intuitive feeling is that while the price transparency of 6061 aluminum plate seems high, the price difference between different conditions, thicknesses, and precision standards can reach over $700/ton. Simply comparing prices per ton can easily lead to a low-price trap, ultimately resulting in a higher overall procurement cost.

LME aluminum ingot prices are the core anchor for 6061 aluminum plate price, accounting for approximately 75% of total costs and being the primary driver of price fluctuations. The industry's common pricing logic is "LME spot aluminum ingot monthly average price + alloy processing fees." For every $100/ton fluctuation in aluminum ingot prices, the price of 6061 aluminum plate fluctuates by approximately $75/ton. Since the third quarter of 2026, influenced by energy costs and geopolitical factors, LME aluminum prices have fluctuated between $3180 and $3330/ton, corresponding to a rise and fall in the benchmark price of 6061 aluminum plate. For customers making long-term bulk purchases, the industry typically employs two models: "monthly average price settlement" and "locked-in long-term contracts." The former involves sharing risks based on market conditions, while the latter allows for locking in prices 3-6 months in advance, mitigating volatility risk. This is the preferred cooperation method for large and medium-sized overseas manufacturers.

The differentiation in processing fees is the core reason for price differences for the same specifications, directly corresponding to product quality and standards. For standard 2.0-10.0mm thick 6061-T6 hot-rolled aluminum plates, the compliant processing fee ranges from $670 to $870 per ton, corresponding to an FOB total price of $3900 to $4100 per ton.
